3:00-5:00 PM Registration Open for Early Arrivals and those wishing to spend a day on the beach relaxing or shopping.

Thursday, APRIL 15

8:00 AM-5:00 PM Member Registration & Check In – Members can stop by and pick up their registration packages from staff and drop off their auction items for Friday night.

9:00-12:00 Noon Continental Breakfast served followed by:
Committee Meetings – All committee meetings will take place during this period and Chairman along with committee members will review and establish their 2004 committee goals, timetable schedule and plans for implementation. If you have a desire to serve on a committee please indicate so on the conference registration form. Committee Chairs are as follows:

3:00-5:00 PM Board of Directors Meeting – This is the Spring meeting of the FAEC State Board of Directors.
Open to all attending members as our guests.

7:00 PM Open Evening for dining and visiting the hotel’s Five Star Restaurant, “Augustine’s Grill”, a dining experience you won’t want to miss. Reservations Recommended.

Friday, APRIL 16

8:00 AM-5:00 PM Registration Desk Open – Staff will be available to help with member questions, check-in, and drop off of auction items.

8:00-12:00 Noon CLASS I –ECLB #0000424
Unified Code Review & NEC Update. 4 Hrs. CE-Code Credit presented by Rick Watson, FAEC Lobbyist &
David DeBerry, DeBerry Electric. This Class meets the mandatory requirement for Code Credit. Continental
Breakfast will be served.

10:00-10:15 AM Refreshment Break – Time for a quick “pick me up” with fresh juice, coffee and granola bars.

10:00-12:00 Noon Ladies Auxiliary Fashion Show & How to Accessorize Your Wardrobe for Spring. Open to all spouses and member guests. This Spring Fashion Show will provide our ladies with some fresh new ideas in fashion for the spring and summer and as an added bonus, there will be a short program with helpful hints to accessorize your old fashions to meet the new trends. There will also be a jewelry presentation to help add to your accessories. This is an excellent opportunity for new spouses to get involved in the association and enjoy the company of new friends.

12:15-1:15 P.M. Lunch served for all attendees. Sponsored by Huckelberry, Harvey, Sibley, Insurance Agency, Orlando, Fl. Our agents will be on hand to review the Association’s new Group Major Medical Program and to share insight on the current worker’s comp market.

l:30-4:30 P.M. CLASS II – “Power Quality” 3 HRS
Technical CE Approval Pending.) presented by Tom Butcher, Surge Supression, Inc., Jacksonville, Fl. This
program will present practical solutions to common power problems and provide insight into determining
solutions that are cost effective and practical in solving even the most complicated power problems.
Points to be covered include Transients, Short Duration Variations, Long Duration Variations, Power
Interruptions, Voltage Phase Unbalance, Harmonic Distortion, Noise,Types of Treatment Devices and How to
Conduct A Power Quality Survey.

6:30-9:30 P.M. Dinner Buffet & Fun Auction – An enjoyable evening with a fun auction consisting of many great items including jewelry, tools, home made craft items and much, much, more. This auction helps FAEC raise money for it’s annual legislative efforts.

Saturday, APRIL 17

7:30-8:15 A.M. Sunrise Breakfast Buffet – Open to all attendees – Start the day off right with a full breakfast
buffet including eggs, hash browns, ham, etc. This is an open seating breakfast with no planned agenda and
allows time to visit with fellow contractors.

8:30-11:30 A.M. CLASS III – 3 Hrs. CE, Business Credit –(Approval Pending). “2004 Construction and
Lien Law Update” presented by Tim Moorhead with Wright, Fulford, Moorhead, Orlando, Fl. Last October a
new revision to the Florida Mechanics Lien Law went into effect and carried some very specific contract
language verbage that is a MUST for all construction contracts. This presentation will include coverage of
Florida’s new Construction Defect Statutes, how they relate to electrical contractors working directly for
owners and/or acting as subcontractors. Sections of the law to be reviewed include Legislative Findings &
Declarations, Definitions under the Statute, Notice & Opportunity to Repair, Abatement, Mandatory Contract
provisions. The final sections of the program will include a presentation and review of recently published
decisions and the Florida Supreme Court’s interpretation of the Florida law relating to bonded claims for both
private construction and public works projects and contract provisions commonly found in construction related
contracts.

8:30-11:30 A.M. CLASS IV – “Video Surveillance for a Digital Age” 3 Hrs.Technical CE, (Approval
Pending). Presented by Steve D’ercole, Systems Engineer, Anixter, Inc. This program includes discussion and
overview of the traditional security market, the evolving market and the bridge to the digital age. Points to be
covered include CCTV, Access Control, Biometrics, Physical Security, Traditional Analog CCTV Systems,
Traditional CCTV Infrastructure, the Evolving Security Market, Shift from reactive to preventative, non-
traditional security applications, analog to digital explosion, shift of ownership and “who’s calling the shots”.
An excellent presentation for the more sophisticated electrical contractor.

10:00-10:15 AM Refreshment Break – Open to all attendees

8:30-11:30 AM Spouse Function – “Decorated Hurricane Candle Globe”. Another fun-filled spouse craft
class presented by the Ladies Auxiliary.

During this two hour session, FAEC Spouses will decorate a glass Hurricane candle globe with decorative
tissue, beads, sequins, paint and various trims. The end product will be a beautiful home décor item that can
proudly be displayed anywhere in the home. Ladies just need to bring their creativity.

11:45 AM – 1:15 PM Lunch Buffet – Open to all convention attendees and spouses. A relaxing lunch where
members and spouses can enjoy the company of each other along with their fellow contractors.

1:30-3:30 PM CLASS V – “Fiber Optics Systems 101” 2 Hrs. CE Technical (Approval Pending). Presented
by Steve Walsh, President, The Connectivity Firm, Inc., Tampa, Fl. An excellent technical program covering
the basic construction of fiber optics, fiber optics in general including transmission, applications, how it’s
applied to electrical systems, industry standards and specification and how those standards apply to our
industry, new and future standards of fiber optic cabling and how it will apply in today’s data and
telecommunications systems. An in-depth program with hands-on demonstations.

Admittance to the conference events, both classes and social functions are by BADGE Only. Please be sure
to wear your name badge at all times to eliminate confusion. Casual dress is appropriate for all events.

Class rosters MUST be signed at the conclusion of each session. NO EXCUSES, PLEASE! Please see the
attending staff person at the conclusion of each session to sign the roster. Have your license number readily
available.
